MORE THAN JUST A PRETTY COLOR

Color is one of the 7 fundamental elements of design. In order to use color effectively in your marketing materials, a basic understanding of color theory is imperative.

Colors evoke emotion. Knowing your audience and goals will help dictate which hue you will want to lean towards. For instance, if your main service offered is relaxing treatments such as massage and pedicures, then you may want to investigate the calming hues of a light blue.

Once you target the emotion you want to communicate, do some user testing. Ask a handful of people what comes to mind after revealing a new color swatch. You may get some answers such as:

  • Red = Love, Blood, Stop
  • Yellow = Happy, Energy
  • Blue = Peaceful, Water, Clean
